10 reasons why I have a capsule wardrobe

List of Services
-
1. Curated styleList Item 1
My style is comfortable, minimal, neutral, and casual. I gravitate toward cream, tan, brown, and muted colors. Each season I will typically add an accent color. For example, since we are headed into fall, I added a few burnt orange pieces to this season's collection.

2. Spend less time choosing what to wearList Item 2
When choosing which pieces will be a part of my wardrobe, I make sure they can all be worn together. Each of my shirts will match all of my pants and shoes. I have the ability to dress up or dress down any outfit or piece. I can choose my clothes and get myself dressed in less than 5 minutes every day without any room for failure or changing several times because "it doesn't look good together."

3. Quickly pack for tripsList Item 3
I don’t go on many trips, but when I do, I can pack quickly. There is no wasted time deciding what I’m wearing each day. I can throw some shirts, pants, and button-downs in a bag and call it good!
-
4. Countless outfit combinationsList Item 4
You will be surprised how many outfit combinations you can make with a simple wardrobe. Hundreds of combinations! I don’t have a specific formula for the number of shirts, pants, shoes, jackets, etc. I just choose until it feels right. It may be difficult for someone looking for a concrete number. I typically have two tanks, two to four basic shirts, two graphic tees, three to four jackets/button-downs/cardigans (depending on the season), and four pant/skirt options. In the warmer months, I may throw in a dress or two!

5. Everything matches
Referring to reason number 2, I know everything in my closet matches and goes together. The burden or worry that you look good because you will! If this list was labeled, “Why I created a capsule wardrobe for my kids,” that would be my number one reason. Does anyone else's toddler insist on picking out their clothes every day? No more arguing about their outfit not matching!
-
6. Love all of the pieces in your closet
I give myself permission to only keep what truly fits well and looks good on my body. As a mom, my body has been many different sizes throughout the years. If something doesn't fit, get it out of your closet! It does not do you any good keeping it on a hanger to stare at you every day. Only keep items that fit you, NO EXCEPTIONS!
-
7. Quality over quantity
It was a mindset change, especially since I love a good deal. Instead of having ten pairs of jeans, I have three high-quality name-brand jeans. I also invested in a couple of layering basic shirts since these are staples for each season's wardrobe. They will only have to be replaced every two years despite being worn 100 times.
-
8. Space saving
You only need hanging space for about 20-30 items. Empty space in my closet gives me a sense of security.
-
9. Laundry does not pile up
Laundry was becoming my least favorite household chore. I would frequently fall behind. You can try all of the hacks for storage and laundry baskets, but what works for one person might not work for you. I try my hardest to do a load every other day. My kids and I have similar color wardrobes and I can wash all of our clothes together. After two days, we will typically have a full load. If you're someone who waits until you have practically nothing to wear until you decide it's time to do laundry. You'll only make it a week ;).

10. No impulse buying
Each season, my wardrobe is thoughtfully curated. I create a list in my phone of items I'm looking for, need to replace or add. I stick to my list and rarely deviate.
